Just in Nairobi, a court has lifted a
warrant of arrest against lawyer
Kethi Kilonzo issued today.
The lifting of the order follows an
urgent application by the lawyer at
the magistrate's court.
In her application, Ms Kilonzo said
she relied on the orders on
Monday by the High Court
stopping the trial at the lower
court, and apologised for not being
present.

On Tuesday, while issuing the
arrest warrant, Chief Magistrate
Hannah Ndung'u ruled that
although she was aware of the
High Court order, Ms Kilonzo
should have been present in court
for the mention.
MODERATE TRIAL
Ms Kilonzo is charged with
stealing a voter registration
document belonging to the
Independent Electoral and
Boundaries Commission.
She, however, sought to have her
prosecution over the matter
stopped on the grounds that the
failure by the Director of Public
Prosecutions to supply her with
documents she would rely on in
her case violated her right to fair
trial.
On Monday, she succeeded in her
bid, with High Court Judge Msagha
Mbogholi stopping the trial
pending a determination on the
application.
