Jubilee Urged to BE CAREFUL About CORD

Thursday, 5 June 2014

A Coast lobby has warned the Jubilee government not to underestimate Cord. Pwani Ni Kenya yesterday said Cord is preparing the ground for 2017 and Jubilee should be “smart or lose out” in the next elections.
This comes after Cord’s rally at Uhuru Park in Nairobi on Saturday, which was organised to welcome back Raila Odinga from his US trip. Speaking to the Star yesterday, PNK chairman Alex Kasuku urged the Jubilee government to counter Cord’s move by going to the ground.

He said ODM came abouts as a result of the 2005 constitutional referendum, which the Orange group won against the Banana, succeeded in that vote since it prepared in advance.
“We don’t want to repeat the same mistakes again. During the referendum the Orange team was preparing from the ground while the Banana team was preparing in hotels. Chungwa was ready two years in advance,” Kasuku said.
He said the Jubilee government should marshal support through the different lobbies in their camp.
Kasuku warned over loopholes in the Jubilee government due to the “differences” between TNA and URP parties.
“The President and Deputy President should speak as one and unite the people. If they allow some leaders in Jubilee to bring divisions, don’t expect good results,” he said.
Kasuku said Raila should not be a threat to the running of the government as he is preparing for 2017 elections.
At the weekend, President Uhuru and Deputy President William Ruto accused Cord of prematurely putting the country in an election mood.
The two urged the opposition to help maintain peace and security in the country.
