Is Ambassador Yvonne dating Aliko Dangote? Toboa siri

Sunday, 29 June 2014 0 comments

In a political environment crawling
with bushy-cheeked men in ill-fitting
suits yelling slogans and spewing
threats, Yvonne Khamati stood out
like a sore thump when she burst
into the limelight as a baby faced
elected member of the executive
committee of Ford Kenya in 2002.
At 21 years of age, she was the
youngest female in a position of
leadership in a political party.
That year, Yvonne ran for the
Makadara Constituency
parliamentary seat against an all-
male politically crowded field that
included Reuben Ndolo of the ‘weka
taya’ fame and was insulted at
rallies, roughed up and at some
point admitted to hospital after
suffering injuries in a campaign
scuffle.

Meteoric rise:
“Female politicians visited me in
hospital and said, ‘This is baptism
by fire. You will get used to it!’ I
realised such was the life of a
female in Kenya’s male dominated
politician arena,” Yvonne says.
Her meteoric rise from obscurity to
national limelight had tongues
wagging, especially when she bagged
a Foreign Service post as Deputy AU
ambassador following negotiations
by her party leader in 2005. Was
Musikari Kombo, the man who
negotiated her appointment, her
lover Twelve years on, and now
deployed as Kenya’s deputy
ambassador to Somalia, tongues are
still wagging.
From allegations of owning a private
jet, to dating Africa’s richest man
and having a tiff with former Prime
Minister Raila Odinga’s wife, Ida,
the rumours created around Yvonne
Khamati’s personal and professional
life read like a script out of popular
TV series Scandal.
“Some of the stories I hear about
myself just make me laugh. For
example, if I owned a private jet,
where would I park it You would
have seen it by now!” laughs the
diplomat.
“Rumours that I was dating Kombo
are the kind of puerile politics that
we must stop. Kombo is a mentor
and a friend. I went to school with
his children and his wife went to
school with my mother,” she
explains.
The rumours did not stop there.
Soon Kenyans on Twitter were
sharing rumours created by a man
named Douglas Mango stating that
the diplomat was seeing Africa’s
richest man Aliko Dangote.
“I don’t think Aliko has even been to
Cedars. I would know as it is in my
neighbourhood. Why would I be
publicly hanging out with him as a
senior diplomat I’d rather we deal
with real issues, not gossip from
Twitter generated by someone who
has since apologised,” she states.
At only 18 years old, Yvonne was
already flying the Kenyan flag high,
representing the youth in the Kyoto
Protocol negotiations at The Hague,
Netherlands, rubbing shoulders with
heads of states and governments and
setting a firm foundation for her
career in diplomacy.
When President Kibaki appointed her
ambassador in May 2007, she was
only 25 years old, making her the
youngest envoy in Africa.

Bigfoot Toyota Prado Spotted along Mombasa Road, Ulalaaah

Unlike any other time in our
history, many Kenyans can now
afford big and expensive cars.
We’ve seen luxury vehicles that
cost upwards of Sh50 million on
our streets, and more keep coming.
Yesterday, this big foot Toyota
Prado was spotted along Mombasa
road.
Definitely a pleasant surprise for
motorists.
The owner has gone further and

Airlines crisis looms over jet fuel shortage

Sunday, 15 June 2014 1 comments

The aviation industry in Kenya and
Uganda is staring at a crisis that
could cost the two countries
millions of shillings due to a
looming jet fuel shortage.
The Nation has established that
Kencor, the oil marketing company
awarded the tender to deliver jet
fuel known as Jet A1 between
June 12 and 14, has failed to do
so.
This was after it encountered
problems at the port of loading.
The bad news was broken to oil
firms last Tuesday, during an oil
industry vessel scheduling
committee meeting.
This has angered players in the
industry and they are demanding
answers from the Ministry of
Energy. The oil marketers said jet
fuel stocks in the country are
critically low and can only last
until June 23.
By last Tuesday, they noted, the
Kencor vessel that was to deliver
jet fuel before the end of the week
had not completed loading. The
company has been forced to seek
alternative supply from another
vessel.
The Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC)
has warned that airports in Kenya
and Uganda face a crisis unless
they receive jet fuel by Wednesday
— five days before the anticipated
run out date.
Energy and Petroleum Principal
Secretary Joseph Njoroge
confirmed the delay but noted that
alternative plans had been put in
place.
“We ordered for another tender
and the fresh consignment of Jet
A1 aviation fuel will arrive
between June 18-20. We have
brought the situation under
control, no need to panic,” he said.
He said there was 10 days fuel
stock in Nairobi and 18 days at the
Moi International Airport in
Mombasa.
Oil marketers have now proposed
mandatory execution of a
performance bond for any bidder
to provide security for the
importers and act as a deterrence
against negligence.

Singer Tiwa Savage now "Wanted"

Friday, 13 June 2014 0 comments

Strutting her elements as she
gyrates in a see me through Rihanna
kind of nude ‘cover’ on what seems
like an under bridge, Tiwa Savage
rocks it up in her new controversial
video Wanted.
The new African music queen goes
bold in the entire video, wailing
seductively as she echoes the lyrics
of the song.
Just like Sauti Sol’s Nishike did the
Kenyan boy band, the new video
presents a new side of the otherwise
adored singer who is now receiving a
major public backlash thanks to the
semi nude show.
After scores plastered hate
comments on her wall through out
last week, a Nigerian housewife
wrote her an open letter on Monday,
putting everything in black and
white.
“…Tiwa, from inception, you have
been perceived to be an Ambassador
of the Youth. You represented the
quintessential sexy female role-
model, especially in the
entertainment world. When we listen
to your songs, it sends a message
across to the youth. There is always
something to ‘take home’ in your
songs…We just loved you and your
music.
“After all these and then the next
thing we get from you is…’Wanted’!
It was simply too much for some of
us to handle. We were so shocked
because for some of us, we thought
“So she don join Maheeda group of
companies!” Please do not blame
the fans for reacting the way they
did…My advice…Please do not give
into the pressure of “Sex Sells”
attitude in the music industry. We
are shouting that today’s Nigerian
youth are losing their sense of
culture and sense of self…” the open
letter read in part.
The singer has one of the most
colourful music biographies in
Nigeria with her songs making
millions of sales.
Her single Ife Wa Gbona (featuring
Leo Wonder) hit 1.6 million YouTube
views with Love Me and Without My
Heart scoring each over 800,000
views.
Her other hits Kele Kele, From My
Head to My Heart, Drummer Boy and
Friday Clothes also scored big in
media reviews.
But just who is Tiwa Sage
It is her multicultural upbringing
that could probably pose the answer
to the Tiwa Sage we are watching
now as she has lived in different
worlds.
The versatile singer was born in
Lagos after which her family
relocated to London after she turned
eleven.
While still in High School, she was a
trombone player for her school’s
orchestra.

Desperate in a hidden way??
Kenyan celebrity admires this lady and here he is.

Vera Sidika flaunts her
new complexion
Gospel singer Ringtone has added
his voice on the raging debate on
bleached-look Vera Sidika, the dare
devil socialite who now claims
Kenyan men are broke busy bodies.
“You used to be so beautiful and I
personally loved your old look. I
miss you…the old Vera. She was
nothing close to the bleached one,”
Ringtone lamented. “God’s original
plan was for you to be a normal
looking girl. Look at you now. What
have you done,” the Kazi ni Kazi and
Mziki ni Dawa hit-maker added.
The singer was speaking in Kisii town
where he had joined the president’s
convoy during his meet-the-people
tour of Nyanza.
His sentiments came after yet
another aggrieved reader, Sadat
Muhindi, the CEO of the Maliza
Umaskini talent search outfit
slammed the popular socialite over
the broke Kenyan men outburst.
“If she has been dating a poor
Kenyan boy, she should persist from
calling Kenyan men poor. She is an
hustler and should keep her debate
on that corner of life. It is wrong for
a woman, especially a Kenyan lady to
label Kenyan men poor. We are not,
probably her boyfriends,” the
philanthropic Sadat toned.
“If Vera thinks bleaching herself
makes her special than other Kenyan
girl, we will prove to her that black
beauty is still the best. I am setting
up a competition for ordinary black
girls to benefit as part of my charity
projects,” he added.

BREAKING NEWS: Chelsea sign Fabregas

Thursday, 12 June 2014 0 comments

The former Arsenal star has joined
the Blues on a five-year contract and
will wear the number four shirt at
Stamford Bridge, having left
Barcelona in a reported £30m deal
Chelsea have completed the signing
of Barcelona midfielder and former
Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas .
Jose Mourinho's side are believed to
have paid £30m for the Spain
international, who has signed a five-
year contract at Stamford Bridge.
Fabregas scored eight La Liga goals
for Barcelona and provided a further
19 assists in 36 appearances last
season and thanked the Catalan
giants after sealing his move to
Stamford Bridge.
Fabregas told the club's official
website: "Firstly I would like to thank
everyone at FC Barcelona where I
enjoyed three wonderful years. It
was my childhood club and I will
always be proud and honoured that
I had a chance to play for such a
great team.
"I do feel that I have unfinished
business in the Premier League and
now is the right time to return.
"I considered all the other offers
very carefully and I firmly believe
that Chelsea is the best choice. They

this team and I can't wait to start
playing."

Arsenal before joining Barcelona.

Carlos Vela WILL be an Arsenal player next season as Real Sociedad confirm switch

Wednesday, 11 June 2014 0 comments

Vela left north London in 2012 after
failing to make an impact in the
first-team, but has developed into
a fearsome forward during his time
with the La Liga outfit.
The Mexico international had
recently claimed that he would
jump at the chance to link up with
Wenger once again, despite not
enjoying his first stint at the club,
and Arsenal are set to activate his
£3.2million buyback clause to seal
their first signing of the summer.

Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay
confirmed the deal, saying:
"Arsenal have informed us that
Vela would be with them next
season."
The 25-year-old was in fine form
last season, helping himself to 16
goals and 12 assists in 34 games,
and is keen to help the Gunners
build on their recent FA Cup glory.
He added: "Arsenal gave me the
opportunity to come to Europe
when I was 17. I didn't have as
many opportunities as I expected
and I had to try new options. If I
have to return to London, I will try
to make things in a different way
so what happened in the past
won't be repeated again."

MPs want more Uhuru ministers kicked out

Monday, 9 June 2014 0 comments

President Uhuru Kenyatta speaks in
Nyansiongo Nyamira County in his
tour of Kisii and Nyamira counties
on Monday 09-06-2014. Information
Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i
(left) is the new target of MPs who
have refused to withdraw an
intended Motion against his
Cabinet colleague.
Majority Leader Aden Duale
Monday failed to convince MPs to
withdraw an impending censure
motion which has now been
broadened to include two Cabinet
Secretaries.

Information Cabinet Secretary Fred
Matiang’i is the new target of MPs
who have refused to withdraw an
intended Motion against his
Cabinet colleague, Ms Anne
Waiguru.
Igembe South MP Mithika Linturi,
who is heading the campaign to
have Ms Waiguru sacked, met Mr
Duale but later said he saw no
reason to drop his Motion. Instead,
he claimed that about 200 MPs
supported his Motion and that
they will meet at the Panafric
Hotel in Nairobi, today to
deliberate on how to deal with the
Motion once it is tabled.

Approve Motion

Mr Linturi said he and other MPs
were waiting for the House
Business Committee to approve the
Motion today after which they will
table it any time from now.
“It is difficult for Mr Duale and his
colleagues to silence us. This
motion is not about Linturi; it is
owned by 200 MPs who have
signed a petition and have refused
to withdraw it,” the MP said.
Mr Duale on his part said he was
still reaching out to more MPs who
were in support of the Motion
before making public the outcome
of his lobbying.
“I am still holding consultations
with members,” he said by phone.
He said he had met Mr Linturi and
his fellow legislators to discuss the
Motion targeting Ms Waiguru.
The effort to remove Dr Matiang’i
is spearheaded by the MP for
Samburu West, Mr Lati Lelelit and
was launched on Friday.
MPs claimed that by Saturday, Mr
Lelelit had collected more than 100
signatures from MPs who want Dr
Matiang’i sacked. They accuse him
of calling them names during a
function he presided over in Kisii
County last week.
“Yes, I can confirm we are doing
that but I am still collecting the
signatures. I do not want to give a
lot of details but as MPs we will
be meeting today to talk about
how to take the process forward,”
Mr Lelelit said by phone.
Mr Linturi also confirmed the
move against Dr Matiang’i.
MPs did not seem to have a
problem with Dr Matiang’i’s
performance. The effort to have
him sacked appeared based purely
on the allegation that he called
them names.
On Ms Waiguru, an MP who
sought anonymity said she may be
unlucky because the Motion
against her is likely to come up for
debate at a time when the top
leaders in the Jubilee Coalition are
busy formulating a strategy to
counter the clamour for national
dialogue that has gained
momentum with the return of
Cord leader Raila Odinga. The
coalition’s leaders, the MP argued,
might not have enough time to
lobby MPs hard enough.
Mr Linturi, who belongs to the
Jubilee Coalition, has defied
pressure to drop the motion with
the latest coming on Saturday
during the wedding of Buuri MP
Boniface Kinoti Gatobu when his
colleagues from Meru County
asked him to assure President
Uhuru Kenyatta, who was present,
that he would not pursue the
removal of the minister.
Mr Linturi said he needed to first
consult the MPs who had signed
the petition.
Ms Waiguru also received support
from four of her colleagues in the
Cabinet led by Dr Matiang’i who
issued a statement saying they
would not be diverted from their
responsibilities by such censure
Motions.
Deputy President William Ruto has
also weighed in on the matter,
publicly daring MPs planning to
sack the minister to instead
confront him and President
Kenyatta. He said that the
presidency took full responsibility
for appointments and transfers in
government.
The grumbling over Ms Waiguru
was started by MPs from the Rift
Valley who accused her of
unprocedurally transferring former
National Youth Service director-
general Kiplimo Rugut to the
Sports Ministry and replacing him
with former State House
comptroller Nelson Githinji.
Dr Matiang’i Monday said on
phone that he had been alerted on
Thursday that Mr Lelelit was
collecting signatures in Parliament
with a view to table a Motion to
impeach him for utterances he is
accused of making during the
school function on Friday.
“Two MPs forwarded to me a
message alerting me that the MP
whom I have not even met was
collecting signatures with a view
to file the Motion. That was a day
before the school function yet I
am accused of uttering the
offensive words at the school
function,” he said.
He revealed that he had been told
he had been targeted alongside Ms
Waiguru and Transport CS
Michael Kamau.
“I did not utter the words I am
being accused of. I am told they
have no case against me but want
to impeach me with my colleagues
for sport,” Dr Matiang’i said.

Radio Africa Offers to Buy Ghafla for Ksh 5 Million after Buying into TRINC for Ksh 3 Million

Radio Africa is reported to be in
serious talks to buy Ghafla. Already,
the Group CEO Patrick Quarcoo has
offered Ksh 5 million for 90% stake
in Ghafla. This offer was like an
insult to the Ghafla founder and his
88mph investors according to people
close to Ghafla.
Ghafla founders and investors
demanded nothing less than Ksh
100 million. This came immediately
after RAL bought 60% stake in
digital media agency TRINC Media
for a paltry Ksh 3 million.
According to documents in our
possession including quartely
reports, PQ bought 20% for himself
and had RAL pump in money to buy
40% of TRINC Media. Sebastian
Wafula maintains the other 40%,
some in trust for an unnamed
investor.
Radio Africa is very desperate to
make an entry dominate the web
and digital TV as they plan to still
be the group which is youth friendly.
They have ditched plans to start
their own Ghafla clone
www.shambamba.com but this plan
might not be off the table as the
group is also contemplating
poaching all Ghafla bloggers and
leaving Samuel Majani to start from
scratch. Many bloggers at Ghafla are
already getting more favours and
leads from Radio Africa that they are
really suspicious that the PQ
employees are up to something.
Caroline Mutoko has tried to show
Ghafla owners and writers favours
through show invitation and lunch
meetings. Others like Shaffie and
Maina Kageni are also giving Ghafla
all kinds of favours.

Bugatti in kenya: MC C_Bisha aka cbisha-sibisha

Sunday, 8 June 2014 0 comments

If you thought flossing and
stunting were two unrelated
words, one meaning to clean one’s
teeth with a string, while the
other referring to jumping
through a window made of sugar,
the English language slang says
no!
Flossing and stunting is what
“ballers and gangsters” do, and it
basically means to show off one's
opulent material possessions, and
really make sure everybody has
seen you, so that you make
insecure less financially fortunate
people feel uneasy.
Musician Flo Rida can now be
added to that category with ease,
and while his previous rides were
always head turning (and not
necessarily in a positive way, may
I add), his most recently acquired
vehicle beats them all. It’s a gold
chrome-wrapped Bugatti Veyron,
which stands out, a lot, like you
can’t not look at it when it passes
by, in all its flossin’ glory.
If you ask Toboa siri or cbisha, Flo Rida is a kind
of middle-of-the-pack artist in the
music industry, and his only way
to stand out is not through the
quality of his musical works, but
the wit with which he can spend
his millions. A faux-gold Veyron
definitely seems legit, given the
current situation, because he is
living his "You can have whatever
you like" song, which I’ve posted
below, for your amusement, and
to get the right mood for this
piece going nicely.
The Ride cost a whooping $1.7m.

serving the community thruogh
visitations to three different
children’s homes. According to
sources from the station, the staff
and crew at the Nakuru-based radio
station will on Saturday set out at
8:00am to visit Arap Moi Children’s
Home in Nakuru before heading to
Njoro Special School and later to
Riziki Children’s Home in Kabarak.
Speaking to us via
phone, the organizer of the initiative
Mr Daniel Kipchumba said that this
is part of the Stations Corporate

states ‘serving the community’” Mr
Kipchumba said.
Kipchumba, who is also the station’s

University, Nakuru Town Campus
SDA Choir has volunteered to

At the Arap Moi Children’s Home
and the Njoro Special School, the
Egerton Radio crew will have a word
of prayer led by the SDA choir before
handing over the various gifts to the
children. The Choir will entertain
the children during the session.
Riziki Children’s Home will mark the
climax of the three in one visit with
lots of activities being done. There
will be tree planting activities,
entertainment provided by the
Egerton Radio staff, bonding, face
painting and nyama choma. Egerton
University’s finest DJ Swamkid will
be doing his stuff on the decks with
other presenters including ZJ,
Muniumuniu, Obed Fanky, Ken Chira
among others.
Mr Kipchumba revealed that this will
mark the beginning of several
corporate social responsibility
programs planned by Egerton Radio
within and without Nakuru County.
He appealed to sponsors and
partners to come out and support
initiatives by Egerton Radio that are
aimed at supporting the community.

"You are a failure, Boni Khalwale tells Mudavadi

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale
(right) with Amani Coalition leader
Musalia Mudavadi during a past
event. Dr Khalwale has said that
the Musalia presidential bid might
very well turn out to be the most
disappointing and tactless
endeavour that he went through.
As debate rages over a proposed
national dialogue, Kakamega
Senator Boni Khalwale talks of the
blunders made by Mr Musalia
Mudavadi in the run up to the
2013 election.
According to Dr Khalwale, Mr
Kenyatta called Mr Mudavadi, the
leader of the UDF party, and drove
to his Riverside home just when
the UDF leader’s allies were
preparing to attend an ODM rally
at Uhuru Park.
Mr Mudavadi had quit Raila
Odinga’s corner a month earlier
and in the deal Uhuru and
Mudavadi signed, they were to
battle it out on who between them
would be the Presidential flag
bearer.
Many in government at the time
were said to favour Mudavadi
because of the crimes against
humanity charges facing Mr
Kenyatta at the ICC.
The pact was signed on December
4 2012, the deadline for depositing
pre-election pacts with the
registrar of political parties,
effectively closing the door for any
change of mind.
Dr Khalwale, who was Mr
Mudavadi’s right hand man in the
last election, told Saturday Nation
Friday that all this took place the
same day Cord was holding a rally
at Uhuru Park which “seemed to
have sent shivers down Mr
Kenyatta’s spine.”
“On seeing the threat of Cord from
the large crowd at Uhuru Park at
10.30 Uhuru Kenyatta panicked
and immediately came to Mr
Mudavadi’s home at Riverside,” he
said.
Dr Khalwale said he was then
summoned together with former
Malava MP Soita Shitanda to
witness the signing of the
agreement.
Dr Khalwale said Mr Mudavadi had
earlier told them that he was the
choice of the establishment.
“Mudavadi called me and Shitanda
and told us in confidence that he
had reason to believe that he was
going to be the presidential
candidate of choice for the status
quo and that he needed our
support,” Dr Khalwale said, adding
that President Kibaki began
sending signals which appeared to
buttress this belief.
But the UDF brigade joined Raila
after Mr Kenyatta and Mr Ruto
began campaigning in earnest and
“State House signals all but
dissipated.”
After the Mudavadi pact, Mr
Kenyatta and Mr Ruto moved and
signed their own deal on which
they rode to victory.
The commission declared Mr
Kenyatta the President with
6,173,433 or 50.07 per cent of the
votes cast. Mr Odinga got
5,340,526 votes (43.3per cent)
while Mr Mudavadi secured
483,981 votes (3.93 per cent.)
Mr Mudavadi would again sign a
post-election pact of co-operation
with Jubilee, lending credence to
claims he had been in the loop all
along to help Kenyatta ascend the
presidency.
“Signs that there was an inner
circle unknown to us became
evident in the end. But I don’t
know whether money was
involved,” Dr Khalwale said.

Kipsaro Boit - Moi university students chairperson abducted

Friday, 6 June 2014 0 comments

Moi University students chairperson
has claimed he was abducted during
the recent universities protest.
Kipsaro Boit told Campus Vibe the
he was tricked by phone, blindfolded
and driven to Eldoret town.
“Someone called and told me that a
student had been arrested. I got
into their car, and on the way to
Kesses, I was kidnapped and
blindfolded,” said Kipsaro.
Some students claimed Kipsaro had
been bribed to call off the strike
over university school fees. He
denied the claims.

Embarrassment, A Kibaki-regime Minister Spotted Waiting To Hop Into A Citi-Hopper Bus At kencom Bus Station

Sometimes you wonder whether people will literally cook their money in a sufuria and eat it up. I am saying this because i don't really understand what happened to some powerful people in the Kibaki or even Moi Regime, who had very good financial muscles.

Last week, it was reported that a former Minister was so broke that he was living in a servant quarter behind a famous hotel.

Ridiculously, we also learned that he was not the only Kibaki-regime Minister who was doing badly financially. Another one was recently spotted queuing at Kencom bus station, apparently intending to board a Karen-bound Citi Hopper bus.

The former minister was so embarrassed that he spent most of the time looking downwards. He hopped that no one would notice him as he waited to hop into the Citi Hopper Bus.

We couldn't help but hope that he was going to his own home (instead of a rented one in Karen). We feared that he was soon going to join his colleague who lives in a servant quarter if that was not the case.

Samsung Galaxy 5, Flagship Done- Sales Have Gone Worldwide

The latest version of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy smartphone series went on sale worldwide Friday, days after the electronics giant announced it was facing a second consecutive quarter of profit decline.
The Galaxy S5 has a lot riding on it to steer the South Korean firm’s profit-making machine back on track as growth in smartphone sales slows, with mature markets like North America and Europe near saturation.
Reviews of the S5 have mostly concluded that it is one of the best high-end smartphones on the market, but there is also a general consensus that it lacks the “wow” factor to differentiate it from its predecessors and competitors
“It can swim, but it won’t make any waves,” was the verdict of the Wall Street Journal, referring to one innovation in the S5′s waterproof covering.

Samsung’s mobile unit has been the driving force behind the record profits of recent years, and it needs the S5 to perform well as a retort to the doom-mongers who say the company lacks a clear strategy to flourish in an increasingly competitive, saturated market.
Samsung made more than 30 percent of all smartphones sold in the world last year, nearly twice the share of its arch-rival Apple. But on Tuesday, the company estimated its first quarter operating profit at 8.4 trillion won ($7.96 billion), marking a second straight year-on-year decline.
In a sign of the challenge the company faces, the S5 was priced lower at its commercial launch Friday than the previous S4 model.
Research firm IDC estimated the average selling price of smartphones will fall to $265 globally by 2017 from $337 in 2013 and $387 in 2012.

Jubilee Urged to BE CAREFUL About CORD

A Coast lobby has warned the Jubilee government not to underestimate Cord. Pwani Ni Kenya yesterday said Cord is preparing the ground for 2017 and Jubilee should be “smart or lose out” in the next elections.
This comes after Cord’s rally at Uhuru Park in Nairobi on Saturday, which was organised to welcome back Raila Odinga from his US trip. Speaking to the Star yesterday, PNK chairman Alex Kasuku urged the Jubilee government to counter Cord’s move by going to the ground.

He said ODM came abouts as a result of the 2005 constitutional referendum, which the Orange group won against the Banana, succeeded in that vote since it prepared in advance.
“We don’t want to repeat the same mistakes again. During the referendum the Orange team was preparing from the ground while the Banana team was preparing in hotels. Chungwa was ready two years in advance,” Kasuku said.
He said the Jubilee government should marshal support through the different lobbies in their camp.
Kasuku warned over loopholes in the Jubilee government due to the “differences” between TNA and URP parties.
“The President and Deputy President should speak as one and unite the people. If they allow some leaders in Jubilee to bring divisions, don’t expect good results,” he said.
Kasuku said Raila should not be a threat to the running of the government as he is preparing for 2017 elections.
At the weekend, President Uhuru and Deputy President William Ruto accused Cord of prematurely putting the country in an election mood.
The two urged the opposition to help maintain peace and security in the country.

If you happen to be broke at this hour, you have absolutely no one to blame. Kenyans are making millions every day and you have no reason why you can’t too.
We’ve been featuring some of the expensive cars we find parked on our streets, in a bid to motivate you the reader to aim higher. That Probox is not enough, neither is the Rav4 or the X Trail or the Premio or the Impreza.
Others are dropping rides worth tens of millions.
We have featured a Sh30 Million Rolls Royce that was spotted at JKIA, a Sh15 Million Nissan GT-R and a Sh 30 Million Mercedes Benz SLS AMG.
Today, we have our biggest catch yet… a Sh… wait for it… $2.5 million Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse.
That converts to Sh225 Million without taxes. Inclusive of taxes, that price should hit almost KSh 400 million. The car has a top speed of 410 Km/h and moves from 0-100 km/h in 2.6 seconds. It is considered the world’s fastest open top production car.

I was promised Sh1m to plant bombs in churches, says porter

Benjamin Masero who claims he
had been recruited by Al Shabaab
to execute terror attacks in Nairobi
and Mombasa Churches and
Supermarkets.
Mr Benjamin Masero, 37,
Wednesday us that he and five other porters at a
Nairobi bus station were enticed
with job offers in Mombasa by a
man believed to be the terror
group’s agent in the city.
“We used to earn a living helping
passengers carry luggage at the
Country Bus Station. We would
meet at Tea Room every morning
and proceed to the stage. In the
last week of April, an agent of a
bus company plying the Nairobi-
Mombasa route approached us
with the promise of giving us jobs
at the bus company in Mombasa,”
Mr Masero said.
They were taken to a mosque in
Bondeni in the coastal town.
“They took us to a room in the
compound of the mosque, where
we stayed while arrangements
were made for us to take up our
new jobs. Soon after, an Islamic
preacher started offering us
Islamic teachings.”
Mr Masero comes from Ikolomani
constituency in Kakamega County
and said their full names, national
identity card numbers and places
of birth were taken by their
“hosts” who said that they would
use the information to get in touch
with their families should anything
bad happen to them.
“A number of days later, they told
us that they would pay us Sh1
million each if we accomplished an
undisclosed assignment. When we
demanded that they pay us half up
front and deposit the balance in
our bank accounts, they flatly
refused.
“They then told us that they
wanted us to plant explosives in
two churches and a supermarket in
Nairobi. The targets were the
Neno Evangelism on Haile Sellassie
Avenue and the Holy Family
Basilica and one of the Nakumatt
branches in the central business
district ,” he said.
Their task was to plant the
explosive devices in the two
churches and the supermarket and
walk away. The bombs would be
detonated remotely through mobile
phones.
Anti Terrorism Police Unit Director
Boniface Mwaniki declined to
comment on the story. He said he
was “out of town” and referred
the Nation to his deputy, Mr John
Mulaulu, whose phone went
unanswered.
One of the recruits identified as
Moses Shirongo openly disagreed
with the “Islamic preachers” over
the plan to plant the bombs and
was taken away, never to return,
said Mr Masero.
“They took him away and returned
with his clothes, telling us that we
would never see him again. We
don’t know what happened to
him.”
Mr Masero said he escaped from
“captivity” last week after
sneaking out of the room during
prayers for a man who had died.
“I hiked lifts in long-distance
trucks all the way from Mombasa
to Nairobi. “I don’t know what will
happen to the other four young
men I left behind. I am ready to
show police the mosque where
they are being kept if my safety is
guaranteed,” he said.

Libya is dying, and black Africans don’t give a damn

Terrible things are happening in the Arab North, and the rest of Africa south of the Sahara desert, aka sub-Saharan Africa, doesn’t seem to be interested or bothered.
The biggest mess is happening in Libya.
To begin with, it is no longer clear who is in charge in Libya. In a chaotic session, the interim parliament, the General National Congress, a few days ago elected businessman Ahmed Miitig as the new prime minister. The dozens of militias in Libya have rejected Miitig.
Then the other day gunmen attacked his home. He escaped unhurt.
The old premier, Abdullah al-Thani, who at first looked like he would leave and allow Miitig to rule, has now changed his mind and decided to linger as PM.
Enter rogue former general Khalif Haftar. He has raised a formidable army and is launching attacks on Islamists groups all over the country, most intensely in Benghazi. He even has a private air force.
The place is falling apart. There are probably more weapons and bombs in Libya than people, in the inevitable crisis that has followed the grim end of Muammar Gaddafi’s rule two years ago.
Hundreds of people have been killed. The country is broke, and things are getting worse by the day. The US has cut and run, telling its citizens to leave.
In neighbouring, more peaceful Tunisia, there is reason to be nervous. A few days ago, four Tunisian police officers were killed in what authorities called a “terrorist” attack on the home of Interior Minister Lotfi Ben Jeddou.
Since late 2012, security forces have been battling dozens of militants hiding out in the remote Mount Chaambi region. Authorities say the militants are linked to Al Qaeda.
We know Egypt and the Egyptians better. They drink our water from the Nile. We play football with them, and their elections are similar to ours. At the start the week, they held a presidential election.
Former military chief Field Marshal Abdul Fattah al-Sisi won it handily. Remember, last July, Sisi overthrew the democratically elected president of Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood’s Mohamed Morsy.
He jailed him, and the worst political violence in recent Egyptian history followed. Anyway, Sisi put the election machinery together, retired from the army, stood and won the vote.
That is very familiar in the rest of Africa. We understand that.
If Libya, or pre-Sisi Egypt, were elsewhere in Africa, we would have pressured the African Union to send a peacekeeping force there. So why don’t we?

Tuskys and Ukwala fined Sh5mn for anticompetitive practices

Tuesday, 3 June 2014 0 comments

Tusker Mattresses and Ukwala
supermarkets have been fined
Sh5.3 million for engaging in anti
competitive practices by the
Competition Authority of Kenya.
In a press statement the Authority
stated that after investigation the
two supermarkets who are
competitors were found to have an
arrangement that involves price
fixing and behaviours that either
controls production, limits market
outlets or access which are in
contravention to section 21 of the
Competition act.
"The Competition Authority of
Kenya has imposed a financial
penalty of Sh5.3mn to Tusker
Mattresses Limited (TML) and
Ukwala Supermarkets Limited
(USL) for engaging in a horizontal
restrictive trade practice," said the
authority in a statement to
newsrooms.
The supermarkets entered into an
agreement in March 26 2013 to
have three branches of Ukwala
Supermarkets managed by Tusker
Mattresses for nine months.
The arrangement is said to have
cost Tusker Mattresses up to Sh200
million in the arrangement. ‘The
Arrangement would involve Tusker
Mattresses making decisions on
acquisition of stock, setting prices,
payroll management, staff re-
organization, deployment of
technology, rebranding, settling any
third party costs of the three
stores and generally put Tusker
Mattresses’ senior Managers in
charge of the day to day
management of the stores.’
The two chain stores complied with
the verdict and paid the amount in
full last week.
