Alexis Sanchez transfers to Arsenal, Vidal too

Sunday, 6 July 2014 0 comments

Barcelona will accept a bid of 40
million euros from Arsenal for
Alexis Sanchez, Goal UK reports.
The Gunners will now try to wrap
up the transfer of the in-demand
forward with further talks in the
next 48 hours aimed at convincing
the player to choose a move to
Emirates Stadium ahead of his
other suitors.
Sources have told Goal that the
financial package offered to
Sanchez has been agreed in
principle by the player and his
representatives.
Arsenal will attempt to clinch the
signing by obtaining an official
agreement from the Chile star,
with the possibility growing that a
deal could be finalized in the
coming week.
The indications from the player's
camp during negotiations are that
he wants to move to Arsenal ahead
of Manchester United, Liverpool
and Juventus, which have all
presented offers.

Divock Origi to Join Tottenham Spurs! Belgium Origi

Monday, 23 June 2014 0 comments

W ith the departed Jermain
Defoe now too busy
watching ice hockey, Harry
Kane no longer the darling of Tim
Sherwood and Roberto Soldado no
longer the darling of anyone,
Tottenham need a hot young thing
to partner Emmanuel Adebayor up
front and fire them to a Europa
League place. Spurs’ scouting
department have been too busy
swigging beer and watching the
World Cup to care, but in
watching Belgium’s 1-0 victory
over Russia on Sunday, they
managed to spot the goalscorer
Divock Origi, and promptly
phoned up his club, Lille, for a
quote.
The French club are holding out
for £8m for the 19-year-old but
canny negotiator Daniel Levy will
start at £5m and hope to end up
somewhere in the middle. Origi
might only have scored five goals
in 30 league appearances last
season but remember, he’s a
‘starlet’ and most importantly of
all, he’s BELGIAN. Sign him up!
Somebody who didn’t score over
the weekend, but nevertheless
impressed in failing to do so
against a far superior opposition,
is Ashkan Dejagah . The Iranian
shone against Argentina on
Saturday and nearly gave his
nation a shock lead with a diving
header. The 27-year-old is set to
play in the Championship next
season after being relegated with
Fulham but after playing in Brazil
he has decided that might not be
for the best, with Everton
reportedly keen. “I don’t know
what will happen next season. I
still have a contract at Fulham
and have liked it there, but it is a
hard situation. Of course I want
to play in the Premier League, but
I will focus here and then we will
see what happens,” he shop-
windowed.
Another player in Brazil hoping
for a move is Victor Moses. The
Nigerian was hauled off against
Iran in their opening match and
didn’t make it off the bench
during their win over Bosnia. Vic
Mo over the hill? Alan Irvine
doesn’t think so, with West
Bromwich offering the Chelsea
winger a loan move for the
coming season.
Elsewhere, Steve Bruce thinks that
his son could do with some more
competition at centre-back at Hull
and is set to table a £4m offer for
Tottenham captain Michael
Dawson, while Swansea are
poised to offer free-agent
Bafetimbi Gomis a whopping
£80,000-a-week in order to beat
Newcastle and QPR to his
signature.

Will Cristiano Ronaldo play against German?

Monday, 16 June 2014 0 comments

The Portugal skipper is in line to
start against Germany on Monday
but after an injury-disrupted
campaign for Real Madrid there
are huge concerns over his fitness.
Cristiano Ronaldo is suffering a
degenerative knee condition called
tendinosis as well as a long-
standing thigh complaint. The
treatment for tendinosis
recommends, above all else, rest.
That is hardly what Portugal needs
to hear with the first game of the
World Cup against Germany
imminent.
There is no easy answer to the
question of when Ronaldo was
injured and when he will be fully
fit again. It is certainly true that
he will not be fully ready until his
body has rested, healed and
corrected itself.
Tendinosis is a condition that
results from overuse. In that sense,
there was no one incident that
caused this Ronaldo injury. Rather,
it is likely that there are many
micro-tears in the area around the
29-year-old's left patellar tendon
which Real Madrid could scarcely
afford to allow to heal.
Ronaldo has played only a limited
part in Portugal's preparations for
this World Cup. His training
sessions, often individually
tailored, have more been aimed at
allowing his body sufficient time to
recuperate. He has regularly
trained apart from the Portugal
squad with his own medical team
and has put limited pressure on
his left leg in his attempts to take
to the field on Monday.

Joel Campbell confirms return to Arsenal

Sunday, 15 June 2014 0 comments

Costa Rica forward Joel Campbell
has confirmed he will return to
Arsenal following the World Cup
in Brazil this summer.
Campbell has yet to feature for
the Gunners having spent the last
three seasons out on loan with
Lorient, Real Betis and Olympiakos
following his arrival from Saprissa
in August 2011.
The 21-year-old, who was on target
for his country in their shock 3-1
win over Uruguay in their Group D
opener, will head back to Emirates
Stadium in the coming weeks, but
admits he is currently only
focused on the global showpiece.
He told reporters: "Of course I
have to go back, because I have a
contract with Arsenal.
“The most important thing just
now is my country and the World
Cup.
"Today was excellent for me, but it
would have come to nothing
without the contribution of my
team-mates.
“Everyone lived up to their
responsibilities. I tried to do my
best to score goals and my
colleagues supported me.
"We have to take one step after
another. We have difficult matches
ahead, but this will give us
impetus."
Costa Rica’s next test comes
against Italy before they conclude
their Group D campaign against
Roy Hodgson’s England, with
Campbell expecting tough games
against the European duo.
He told Sportv: "It wasn't a
surprise to us, we came here to
win. This is why you play a World
Cup. We wanted a good result,
but the next two games will be
hard.
“The first game is always
important. We hope to get good
results in the next two games."

World Cup 2014 UPDATES: Campbell eager for Arsenal return. URUGUAY 1 - 3 COSTA RICA

Saturday, 14 June 2014 1 comments

Joel Campbell says he’s hoping to
play for Arsenal next season
believing he has the quality to
succeed in the Premier League.
The Costa Rican international has
yet to feature for the Gunners since
signing in 2011 with work permit
delays necessitating loan spells at
Lorient in Ligue 1 and Real Betis in
La Liga. Nevertheless, having
impressed at Olympiakos scoring 7
goals in 24 appearances this season
and with the necessary paperwork
secured he’s hoping Arsene Wenger
offers him an opportunity in
England.
“As soon as Arsenal came, I wanted
to join them and I believe I am
ready to play for Arsenal next
season,” he told Sky Sports ahead of
his loan side’s Champions League
clash with Manchester United.
“I know I have the capacity to play
there. I am only waiting for the
opportunity. With hard work I know I
can get there.
“They [United] showed an interest in
me when I was moving to Europe
but I have been an Arsenal fan
since I was a child and that’s why I
chose them.”
Of his time in Greece he added,
“This has been a very good
experience. I am trying to do my
best, to do better and continue
growing as a footballer. It is why I
chose Olympiakos. This is a big team
with the opportunity to play in the
Champions League, the most
important competition in Europe.
“The league here is not as
competitive as in Spain but it is a
good place for me to grow as a
player. We have a strong team, with
competition for places. Every day I
try to learn something from Javi
Saviola. The life here is good, the
food and the weather.”
Arsenal fans will no doubt be
keeping an eye on Campbell this
evening hoping he upstages Robin
van Persie. Nights like this are
certainly an opportunity to put
himself in the shop window and with
a World Cup on the horizon – Costa
Rica have been drawn in England’s
group – there’s plenty of time to
turn Wenger’s head or indeed those
of other suitors.

Pele: I fear Germany stars Ozil and Muller

The three-time world champion feels
Joachim Low's side are one of the
biggest contenders for the
tournament and added that Bayern
Munich made a mistake in not
signing Neymar.
Brazil icon Pele says he fears "every
player" in the Germany World Cup
squad - particularly
Thomas Muller and Mesut Ozil.
Germany have been drawn in Group G
with Portugal, Ghana and USA and are
seen as one of the favourites to win
the tournament.
And Pele believes that, while he feels
Brazil will claim a sixth world title on
home soil, Joachim Low's men pose a
genuine threat.
"Brazil are the favourites. We are
playing at home and have a good
team," he told Bild. "But I really
respect Germany. They are the best
team in Europa together with Spain,
both are perfectly organised."
"I fear every German player with my
heart. Mainly Thomas Muller and also
Mesut Ozil. These players could be
dangerous."
The three-time World Cup winner
added he has spoken to Franz
Beckenbauer about the strength of
the Germany team, although he
warned that the strongest side on
paper does not always enjoy the
greatest success.
"Franz told me that he is very
satisfied with the German team. They
have a lot of young top-talented
players. The midfield is maybe as
strong as ever.
"But great players don't automatically
lead to success. In 1982, Brazil had
the best team by far with stars like
Zico, Socrates or Eder - but in the end
Italy won the World Cup. The
tournament is never predictable."
Pele was then asked if he feels Bayern
Munich made a mistake in not signing
Neymar at Pep Guardiola's request, to
which he replied:
"Yes, if there is a chance to get
Neymar you must take it. He improves
every team in the world."
The 73-year-old also revealed he has
been approached by several clubs to
take over as coach but he has never
been interested.
"I have been asked often if I want to
become coach. Santos asked me every
year since I stopped playing in 1974.
Also Milan, Benfica and the Brazilian
national team wanted me.
"But I never accepted these offers
because the job would have made me
crazy. I might have demanded too
much of the players.
"As a coach you have to bear a lot.
Coaches often suffer with the
pressure. I always enjoyed sitting on
the stands and not on the bench.
He joked: "I only would have thought
twice if Bayern would have asked."
